Wow! People treat you like a god, don't they? You sit in the midst of flower petals and on a raised platform. Why is that? Are you above the people you teach? Why do place the pictures of the gurus of old on the altar? Do you worship them as deities?

Answer: Guru is Given Same Respect as God
Just as a policeman, even though just an ordinary citizen like you or me, is respected as being the government when he is on duty, similarly the spiritual master, even though he is also a living being like you or me, is given the same respect that we give to God because his duty is to act as God's representative.
The spiritual master never feels that he is above the people that he is teaching. Rather he considers himself below them. He sees them as his masters because he has to serve them by delivering them back to the spiritual world. He feels completely unqualified and unfit to sit on an exalted seat. But as a matter of duty he is required to accept the respectful obeisances and loving service being offered to him by his disciples. He has this duty because Krishna orders His devotees to learn the science of bhakti by taking shelter of a bona fide spiritual master to whom they are to give the same honor and respect that they would give to Krishna, if He were personally present.

Six years, 500 million euros, 918 meters long.......now this is engineering!
This is a channel-bridge over the River Elbe and joins the former East and
West Germany , as part of the unification project. It is located in the city
of Magdeburg, near Berlin .
The photo was taken on the day of inauguration.
To those who appreciate engineering projects, here's a puzzle for you
armchair engineers and physicists.
Did that bridge have to be designed to withstand the additional weight

I have a family friend studying in the UK. He is a Hindu working for McDonald's. He has been telling me that he gets free food, and that the cheese they use there is beef based, and that also he started consuming beef. He has been arguing the following:
1. Why Muslims, Christians, and Jews can eat beef while Hindus cannot?
2. Also if everyone would turn vegetarian, there will be an overpopulation of cattle, cows, hens, etc...
3. Herbivores have flat teeth and carnivores have pointed teeth. But humans have both. So it is a clear signal that we humans can eat both, as humans can easily digest non vegetarian food.
4. Even plants and trees are living entities. But still we pluck and eat the fruits and vegetables.
I told him that cows are Krishna's favorites and that they provide milk so they are our mothers. I also told him that Krishna Himself says that consumers of beef will have to go through this repeated cycle of birth and deaths and be born 5000 times more as the worse lowly species. Then, he told me, "What is the proof that Krishna said all this? Bhagavad-gita was spoken so many years back and at that time there was no copyright. Maybe the one who wrote it is wrong and has interpreted Bhagavad-gita in his own way."
I did try my best, Maharaja. Please excuse me if I did any offense. Please advise me how I should answer him.

Here are your questions with answers:
1. Why Muslims, Christians, and Jews can eat beef while Hindus cannot?
Answer: Everyone can eat meat if they want to. But they will take the karma of becoming animals and being slaughtered and eaten by the very same animals that they ate. It does not matter how they designate themselves as Muslim, Christian, Jew, Hindu etc. Everyone is treated equally without any discrimination by the stringent laws of karma.
2. Also if everyone would turn vegetarian, there will be an overpopulation of cattle, cows, hens, etc...
Answer: The cattle are being artificially bred to support the beef eating industry. It is very simple to separate the cows and bulls into separate pasturing grounds.
3. Herbivores have flat teeth and carnivores have pointed teeth. But humans have both. So it is a clear signal that we humans can eat both, as humans can easily digest non vegetarian food.
Answer: Humans have two carnivorous teeth as a concession for the meat eaters. That's a fact. But besides that, their entire digestive system is herbivorous. When a human eats meat, it is very unhealthy because the rotting meat turns from fermentative into putrefactive while still present in the intestinal system. The carnivorous animals have a very short intestinal system to get the meat out before it turns putrefactive. It is because of meat eating that we see so much colon cancer in the human society.
4. Even plants and trees are living entities. But still we pluck and eat the fruits and vegetables.
Answer: Therefore we are forbidden to consume even fruits and vegetables unless they are first offered to Krishna to free us from the karma of killing them. We cannot offer meat to Krishna because He specifically instructs us to offer Him vegetarian foods, not meat foods.
I told him that cows are Krishna's favorites and that they provide milk so they are our mothers. I also told him that Krishna Himself says that consumers of beef will have to go through this repeated cycle of birth and deaths and be born 5000 times more as the worse lowly species. Answer: The words of Krishna spoken 5,000 years ago have been passed down carefully without any adulteration through an unbroken chain of disciplic succession. Besides that, the proof of the pudding is in eating. When he finds himself in the animal kingdom being readied for slaughter for as many times as there are hairs on the body of the cow that he eats, he will get his proof. But by then, it will be too late. It is more intelligent to learn by hearing than it is by being sent repeatedly to the slaughter house. But less intelligent fools are stubborn. They will only learn the hard way.

Who is a Hindu this days?
The policy defines 'practising Hindus' as those who perform daily prayer and deity worship either at a temple or at home, and accept and follow Vedic scriptures, in particular the Bhagavad Gita AS IT IS. They must also be involved in at least weekly temple-related voluntary work, attend temple programmes at least fortnightly and abstain from meat (including fish and eggs), intoxication (alcohol), smoking, drugs and gambling.
According to this definition, majority of Hindus of in India would be disqualified as they eat meat..etc..etc..!!!!

Hindu Munnani vs Khushboo
Read in 'IndiaGlitz' that Khushboo is in trouble again. Mr.Gurumoorthy a Hindu Munnani activist has lodged a complaint before a civil court alleging that Khushboo was seen sitting with her chappals in front of idols of goddesses Lakshmi, Saraswathy and Parvathy, during Pooja for the 'muhurat' at Chennai on 22 November.
My question to Mr.Gurumoorthy:
Don't we have 1,000,000,000,000,000 other issues that the Hindu Munnani can fight for? Can you please work on those rather than worrying about 'Chappals' ?
Do you remove your chappals or your shoes in a MTC bus just because there is a photo of a God/Goddess in the front near the driver?
IMHO - The Goddesses will be happy if people are pure at heart!
They won't bother about the chappals.

Answer: I Always Live in Vrindavan
Materialism and spiritualism have nothing to do with where we live. In fact it is a materialistic conception to think that by residing in one place as opposed to another that we will become more spiritual. The real determining factor is who we associate with. If we associate with great transcendentalists we become great transcendentalists. And if we associate with mundaners, we become mundaners. Mostly all the inhabitants of both the USA and India are in material consciousness. But in both countries there are great transcendentalists to be found if one is very eager to seek them out.
Apparently your friend does not know the real meaning of staying away from materialism. Matter is the energy of God, and materialism means when we utilize that energy for our sense gratification. Conversely spiritualism means when we utilize that energy in God's service. Some people have the misconception that spiritualism means to have nothing to do with matter. But that is not a fact. We cannot avoid dealing with matter because we are surrounded by it on all sides. The key is that we have to engage whether material facility we have in the service of the Lord, then we are spiritualists. The same principle applies both in the USA and in India.
You may tell your friend that I am constantly traveling and preaching all over the world because my Guru Maharaja has ordered me to turn the entire world into the spiritual Vrindavan atmosphere. I am not staying in one place permanently to enjoy the material facilities there.
Krishna's incarnation in this age, Lord Caitanya, has ordered that it is duty of all Indians to become spiritually perfect and do the highest welfare work of spreading Krishna consciousness all over the world. But instead of going after Krishna, the modern day Indians are going after technology and money and are therefore neglecting their duty to become Krishna conscious and make the whole world Krishna conscious.
And now when an American takes up the duty neglected by the Indians your friend criticizes him for not spending more time in India. Apparently he is not aware that in the Vedic histories we have authoritative information that this entire planet was formerly India. Simply it is due to the influence of this materialistic age of Kali that India has been gradually shrinking more and more. Just like several decades ago Pakistan was chopped off as a separate country. Formerly the capital of the entire planet earth was Hastinapur, which is now known as Delhi, India. I have dedicated my entire existence to restoring the original Indian Vedic culture all over the world. What is your friend doing besides criticizing me?
So far no one has ever given me a posh bungalow for my residence or has driven me in a luxury car. I accept whatever meager transportation or place of residence is offered to me, even if is it very simple. But in this connection I ask your friend to kindly note:
Because the spiritual master is a representative of God, according to the authorized Vedic literatures, he is meant to be offered the same honor and respect that is given to God. When God is conveyed from one place to another He is taken in a golden chariot. When He is offered a place of residence the walls are bedecked with valuable jewels. So I think that even if my disciples were to offer me a Rolls Royce and a marble palace, it will still not be to the full standard.
I am not the head of ISKCON. I am simply one of the many spiritual masters who are working together within the ISKCON mission to bring about a spiritual revolution on this planet. I spend more or less time in a place depending on how many lectures my students and disciples can arrange for me. If your friend can book for me an extensive lecture tour within India, I will be happy to spend more time in the wonderful Indian holy land.
The shame is not on me. I am doing my duty. The shame is on those Indians who are neglecting their duty. When we fully connect with Him through loving devotion, we will never be devastated by the suffering conditions of this material existence ever again.
Of course, this is easier said than done. But it is doable if we take help from authorized books of Vedic wisdom such as the Bhagavad-gita. It's up to us whether we want to prioritize this or not. If we like, we can prioritize making money and spending it for sense gratification. Or we can make developing pure love for God the number one goal of our lives.

BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS
1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar
level.
This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing
brain degeneration.
2. Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental
power.
3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients
causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air
decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in
brain efficiency.
6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will
accelerate the death of brain cells.
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered, increases the concentration of carbon
dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain

8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in
effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation
thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.
10. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain

The main causes of liver damage are:
1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are main cause.
2. Not urinating in the morning.
3. Too much eating.
4. Skipping breakfast.
5. Consuming too much medication.
6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit.
8. Consuming raw (overly done) foods also add to the burden of
liver.
Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies
should be finished in one sitting, do not store.
We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to
adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating
habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and
get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to "schedule."
Because:
Evening at 9 - 11pm: is the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic
chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This
time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during
this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the
dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a
negative impact on health.
Evening at 11pm - 1am : is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.
Early morning 1 - 3am : detoxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.
Early morning 3 - 5am : detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will
sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the
detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need
to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.
Morning 5 - 7am : detoxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.
Morning 7 - 9am : absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you
should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier,
before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very
beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast,
they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast
late until 9 - 10am rather than no meal at all.
Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of
removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.

The main causes of liver damage are:
1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are main cause.

7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit.
8. Consuming raw (overly done) foods also add to the burden of
liver.
Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies
should be finished in one sitting, do not store.
We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to
adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating
habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and
get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to "schedule."
Because:
Evening at 9 - 11pm: is the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic
chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This
time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during
this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the
dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a
negative impact on health.
Evening at 11pm - 1am : is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.
Early morning 1 - 3am : detoxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.
Early morning 3 - 5am : detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will
sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the
detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need
to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.
Morning 5 - 7am : detoxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.
Morning 7 - 9am : absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you
should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier,
before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very

they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast
late until 9 - 10am rather than no meal at all.
Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of
removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.

Wrong concept
Why do so many of us eat meat, which involves killing? I have faced this question umpteen times and honestly, I had no idea why it is permitted in Islam, until I read a book by Dr Zakir Naik that deals with these common questions. The book gives logical and scientific reasons. And before any justification, I would like to clarify that it is not compulsory in Islam to have non-veg food; it is only permitted.
Dr Naik says meat is nutritious, with all the 8 essential amino-acids that cannot be synthesised by our body. It also contains iron, vitamin B1 and niacin. Next, all herbivorous animals have flat teeth suited only for herbivorous diet, whereas all carnivorous animals have pointed teeth for carnivorous diet. But human teeth are both pointed and flat. Also herbivores can digest only vegetables, and carnivores, only meat, but we humans can handle both.
Many people abhor meat because it means killing creatures. But plants also have life. So that logic is violated, even by being vegetarian. People also argue that plants cannot feel pain. However science has proved that plants do feel pain. We cannot hear them because their sound does not lie in the audio range of human beings (20 to 20,000 Hertz). When a farmer in US invented an instrument to convert the cry of a plant to audible range, he heard plants crying for water! Later research reveals that plants, too, feel happy and sad. Some argue that plants have only two or three senses, whereas animals have five senses, so it is a lesser crime to kill plants. What if you have a brother who is deaf and dumb (has two senses less) and someone murders him? Would you ask the judge to spare the murderer as he killed a person who had fewer senses? So, finally, it is a only personal choice to eat animal flesh or not.

U.S. is facing 'reverse brain-drain'
Chennai: The U.S. is facing 'reverse brain-drain' right now. According to a recent report, skilled workers are returning to
countries like India and China from the U.S., hence giving Indian companies access to increased number of skilled
workers in the next couple of years.
Over a million skilled immigrant workers, including scientists, engineers, doctors, researchers and their families,
compete for 1,20,000 permanent US resident visas each year. This creates an imbalance that could fuel a
'reverse brain-drain', according to a report, Intellectual Property, the Immigration Backlog, and a Reverse Brain-Drain,
released by the US-based Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
The study conducted by researchers at Duke University, New York University and Harvard University, is the third in a series of studies focusing on immigrants' contributions to the competitiveness of the US economy .
The earlier studies, 'America's New Immigrant Entrepreneurs' and 'Entrepreneurship, Education and Immigration: America's New Immigrant Entrepreneurs, Part II,' documented that one in four engineering and technology companies founded between 1995 and 2005 had an immigrant founder.
Researchers also found that these companies employed 4,50,000 workers and generated $52 billion in revenue in 2006. Indian immigrants founded more companies than those from the United Kingdom, China, Taiwan and Japan combined.
The key findings in the latest report are that foreign nationals contributed to more than half of the international patents filed by a number of large, multi-national companies, including Qualcomm (72 percent), Merck & Co (65 percent), General Electric (64 percent), Siemens (63 percent) and Cisco (60 percent).
Forty-one percent of the patents filed by the US government had foreign nationals as inventors or co-inventors.
In 2006, 16.8 percent of international patent applications from the US had an inventor or co-inventor with a Chinese-heritage name, representing an increase from 11.2 percent in 1998. The contribution of inventors with Indian-heritage names increased to 13.7 percent from 9.5 percent in the same period.
